About us
Ferris Dance Company is a dance company based in Blackburn, Lancashire. We offer a variety of classes for those aged 4-16 years. Our experienced team is passionate about dance and committed to helping our dancers reach their full creative potential. We believe that dance is more than just a hobby. It is a way to express oneself, build confidence, and have fun. We create a supportive and encouraging environment where our dancers can grow.
In addition to our regular classes, we also offer a number of performance opportunities throughout the year. Our students have the chance to perform in our annual dance show, as well as in festivals, parades, community events and so much more.
Performing in front of an audience can be a daunting experience, but it can also be a great way to build confidence. When our dancers perform, they have to overcome their fears and put themselves out there. This can help them to realize that they are capable of more than they thought possible.Performing also teaches our dancers important character traits, such as discipline, teamwork, and perseverance. When dancers work hard to learn a routine and then perform it in front of an audience, they are learning the value of hard work and dedication. They are also learning the importance of working with others and supporting each other, and when they make mistakes, they are learning how to persevere and not give up.
If you are looking for a fun and supportive dance company in Blackburn, then Ferris Dance Company is the place for you. We would love to welcome you to our dance family!
Meet the Team

Company Principal & Lead Teacher
Nicole Ferris
I’ve been dancing for over 16 years and taken part in many performances, competitions, and exams in this time. Dance for me has always been about freedom, freedom to express what you’re feeling when you can’t find the words, freedom to transport yourself to any space or time you desire, freedom to be the truest version of yourself!
It has been my dream ever since I was little to run my own dance company and for it to be a place where everyone could feel like they belong, where they would feel like they’re part of something more, where they are nurtured and supported. I want to inspire young people to love and respect dance as much as I do. I want to inspire the next generation of performers to work hard, believe in their ability and never give up on their dreams.
I hold a level 1 & 2 qualification in performance skills using dance which I gained at a young age, achieving my level 1 at 15 years old and my level 2 at 16 years old. I also hold a btec level 3 in dance, as well as a Level 4 Diploma in Dance Teaching. I am a professional member of People Dancing, fully insured, have a level 2 in basic first aid and hold an Enhanced DBS certificate. Certificates can be seen on request.

Teacher
Kirsten Ashworth
Kirsten is an ex student of Ferris Dance Company. Kirsten joined the company on our very first day of opening and has never left since. Throughout her time as a student with us she became one of our first 'Junior Dance Assistants' and helped out on a weekly basis across many of our younger classes. When it came to Kirsten's time to move on from taking classes at the company Nicole asked her to take on a more permanent role within the company meaning she is now part of our teaching team.
Kirsten holds a Distinction Level 3 Extended Diploma in Musical Theatre and is fully insured and enhanced DBS checked.
